KABUL: Afghanistan is experiencing significantly lower fuel prices compared to Pakistan, according to a senior official.
Shafi Azam, economic head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said prices in Afghanistan are about 46.54% lower than in Pakistan.
Writing on X, Azam attributed the difference to a diversified market, lower taxes, and price stabilization mechanisms.
He said fuel prices in Afghanistan currently stand at $0.97 per liter for petrol, $1.05 for diesel, and $0.76 per kilogram for gas. In comparison, prices in Pakistan are $1.64 for petrol, $1.86 for diesel, and $1.70 for gas.
The statement comes amid ongoing regional energy challenges following tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, though Afghan fuel prices have remained relatively stable.
