KABUL: Donald Trump said U.S. forces have rescued a second crew member from a downed fighter jet in Iran during what he described as a “bold” and complex operation.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the injured U.S. Air Force officer had recovered from mountainous terrain while being pursued by Iranian forces.
He added that dozens of aircraft equipped with advanced weaponry were deployed under his orders to carry out the mission.
“This miraculous search-and-rescue operation followed the successful rescue of another brave pilot yesterday, which we did not confirm at the time to avoid jeopardizing the second mission,” Trump wrote.
According to Trump, the crew member’s location had been monitored around the clock after the aircraft was shot down, with detailed planning carried out before the rescue.
There has been no independent verification or evidence released by the U.S. military regarding the operation or the condition of the rescued personnel.
Earlier reports said U.S. helicopters had extracted another crew member from an F-15E Strike Eagle inside Iran.
