KABUL: At least six children have been martyred and seven others injured after the collapse of three roofs in the outskirts of Nangarhar province during the past 24 hours, local officials confirmed.
Radio Omid correspondent citing local sources said that three children were martyred and three others injured when a house roof collapsed, in the Musa Khil area of Pachiragam district, another three children martyred and one child was injured in a similar incident in Ahmad Khil village of Khogyani district as well as three more people were injured in a separate roof collapse in the Kohi area of Spin Ghar district.
Officials said security forces responded promptly and transferred the injured to nearby medical facilities.
Preliminary information suggests the houses had been weakened by heavy rainfall, leading to the collapses.
The incidents come amid widespread damage caused by recent rains across Afghanistan, where nearly 100 people have been martyred and more than 100 others injured in weather-related disasters.
