JALALABAD: The Nangarhar provincial officials say at least 13 people have been martyred and 19 others injured as a result of heavy rainfall and roof collapses across the province.
Quraishi Badloon, head of the provincial directorate of Information and Culture, said the casualties occurred over the past 24 hours due to rain-related incidents.
In Jalalabad, five people were martyred and two were injured when a house roof collapsed in the Angoor Bagh area, additional fatalities and injuries, including women and children, were reported in Sherzad and Haska Mena Districts of the province.
The injured have been transferred to medical centers, with some reported to be in critical condition.
Authorities say both civilian and military teams are mobilized to assist affected communities as severe weather continues to cause casualties and widespread damage.
