Araghchi: The U.S. must choose ceasefire or continuing war via Israel

KABUL: As Israeli strikes on Lebanon continue, Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, said the terms of a ceasefire between Tehran and Washington are clear and explicit.

Araqchi wrote on X on Wednesday night that the United States must choose “a ceasefire or the continuation of the war through Israel,” because, he said, the two cannot continue simultaneously.

The foreign minister added that the world is witnessing a “massacre” in Lebanon and that the ball is now in the U.S. court; the international community is watching to see whether the United States will honor its commitments.

At the same time, the speaker of Iran’s parliament has accused the U.S. of three violations of the ceasefire.

Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf wrote on X that continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon, the entry of a drone into Iran’s airspace over the city of Lar in Fars province, and the denial of Iran’s right to uranium enrichment are key clauses of the ceasefire that the United States has violated.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported Wednesday night that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed again by Iran and that ships scheduled to transit were ordered to turn back.
