HERAT: The provincial Herat officials confirmed that security forces, following initial investigations and actions, have detained a suspected individual in connection with the deadly shooting of civilians in the Ingil district of the province.
The Herat governor’s media office, in a statement on Friday night, expressed condolences to the families of the victims and said that Shaikh Maulana Islamjar, the governor of Herat, has been closely following the incident while visiting the hospital and speaking with the injured.
The governor has directed doctors at the provincial hospital to spare no effort in treating those hurt.
The statement further said: “Governor Herat, while expressing sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, said the perpetrators will be identified seriously and will be handed over to the law.”
“The blood of no Afghan citizen will go unavenged and those responsible will face consequences for their actions,” the statement quoted Islamjar as saying.
It is reported that the attack carried out by armed motorcycle riders on a number of civilians in Ingil district has also triggered strong reactions from citizens across the country.
