KABUL: Afghan defense forces have recovered the bodies of victims from a traffic accident that occurred Friday night on the Kabul–Jalalabad Highway.
According to a statement from the 313th Central Army Corps, the bodies of three men and one woman were retrieved from a river after an overnight search operation.
The incident happened in the Shapoli Baba area near Mahipar, where a car veered off the road and fell into the river.
Rescue and medical teams from the corps launched operations shortly after the accident to locate survivors and recover victims.
“The vehicle remains missing due to strong river currents, and the exact number of passengers on board is still unknown,” said the statement, adding that search efforts will continue until the vehicle and any remaining occupants are found.
Afghan defense and security forces continue to assist in emergency and natural disaster responses alongside their security duties.
