JALALABAD: Afghan security forces have prevented the smuggling of diesel fuel to Pakistan during an operation in Nangarhar province, officials said on Sunday.
According to a statement from the 201st Khalid bin Walid Army Corps, troops seized 20 barrels of 30-liter diesel while illegally being transported to Pakistan.
The shipment was placed in a Suzuki-type vehicle, discovered and seized during the operation conducted by personnel of the “Abdullah bin Zubair” battalion in the Gulko area of Mohmand Dara District.
This comes amid rising fuel prices in Pakistan following regional tensions and disruptions in global oil supply routes.
