KABUL: Mullah Abdul Haq Akhundzada Hamkar, CEO of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, during his visit to Dushanbe met with Daler Juma, Minister of Energy of Tajikistan, in Dushanbe to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing the CASA-1000 project.
In the meeting, both sides reviewed progress and challenges facing the regional electricity transmission initiative and emphasized the importance of closer coordination, the press office of DABS said in a statement today.
Akhundzada stressed the need to accelerate implementation, address potential issues faced by contracting companies, and enhance technical cooperation.
He also appreciated Tajikistan’s efforts in facilitating coordination and advancing the project, noting that joint work in the energy sector could significantly contribute to economic growth and regional stability.
CASA-1000 is not only a significant step in connecting regional areas but is also an essential step in the exchange of energy and expanding economic cooperation, the statement quoted Juma as saying.
For his part, Juma described CASA-1000 as a key project for regional connectivity, enabling electricity trade and expanding economic cooperation.
The CASA-1000 project is a major regional initiative aimed at transmitting electricity from Central Asia to South Asia. Work on the project, which had been paused following political changes in Afghanistan, resumed more than a year ago.
