KABUL: Afghan and Uzbek officials have agreed to establish a joint technical team to strengthen efforts against drug trafficking along their shared borders.
Shaikh Abdul Rahman Munir, Deputy Interior Minister for Counter-Narcotics, held talks with Aziz Tashpuladovich, Uzbekistan’s interior minister, during an official visit to Uzbekistan.
According to a ministry statement, both sides discussed enhancing coordination and cooperation in combating narcotics trafficking.
Uzbek officials reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration with Afghanistan in counter-narcotics efforts.
The two sides also agreed to form a technical team focused on preventing drug smuggling at border points, aiming to improve coordination and carry out more effective joint operations.
