KABUL: The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has described the 7th and 8th of Saur as significant historical days, calling one a day of “invasion” and the other a “historic and proud” moment for the country.
In a statement issued by deputy spokesperson Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, said the 7th of Saur marks foreign interference and aggression on Afghanistan, while the 8th of Saur represents victory, independence, and a turning point in the nation’s history.
The statement added that Afghanistan has achieved its goals of unity, stability, and the establishment of an Islamic system, and called on citizens to remain united in preserving it.
According to the statement, 48 years ago, communist elements carried out a coup aimed at imposing a foreign ideology on Afghanistan.
It said that following years of resistance, Afghans ultimately achieved victory and independence on the 8th of Saur in 1992.
The two days are annually remembered in Afghanistan as symbols of both hardship and triumph in the country’s modern history.
