Kabul and Dhaka boost cooperation in pharmaceutical sector

KABUL: A technical delegation from the Ministry of Public Health has visited Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, for official talks on pharmaceutical regulation and cooperation.
According to a statement from the ministry on Monday, the delegation, led by Dr. Naem Ayubi, head of Drug and Health Products Regulation met with Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, head of Bangladesh’s drug regulatory authority.
In the meeting, the regulation, monitoring, and development of the pharmaceutical and health products sector have been discussed, said the statement.
The Afghan delegation also reviewed Bangladesh’s practical experience in drug registration systems and explored ways to improve and facilitate medicine registration processes in Afghanistan.
Both sides emphasized the importance of technical cooperation, exchange of professional experience, and strengthening bilateral relations in the health sector, describing it as valuable for improving service quality and regulatory systems in both countries.
The ministry noted that this visit follows a recent trip by Afghanistan’s deputy minister for food and medicine, who also discussed pharmaceutical imports and potential investment in domestic drug manufacturing in Bangladesh.
