Panjshir cherry exports to foreign markets to begin soon

KABUL: The Panjshir provincial officials said in a statement that the province’s 20 tons of cherries will be exported to Central Asian countries, in the future, and that this year the province has received around 130 tons of cherries.
In a statement sent to Radio Omid, the spokesman for the governor of Panjshir, Saifuddin Latoon, said the harvest was obtained from 363 hectares of orchards, and that cherries are sold in the market at an average price of 100 Afghan afghanis per kilogram.
According to the statement, after being transported to Kabul, the cherry fruit is then exported to foreign countries, including Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, China, and the United Arab Emirates.
It is also noted that the total value of Panjshir’s cherry production this year is estimated at more than 13 million Afghan Afghanis.
