CENTCOM launches new strikes on Iran following reported downing of U.S. Helicopter

KABUL: The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has said its forces carried out “defensive” strikes against targets in parts of Iran.
According to CENTCOM, the operation was conducted in response to the reported downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter in the Gulf of Oman.
Reports also indicate that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for attacks targeting the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran’s armed forces would not leave any attack unanswered.
In a post on X, Araghchi wrote: “If you want to be safe, leave our region.”
He added that as long as U.S. forces remain in the region, they will continue to face security risks.
