KABUL: Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Brham Salih, to discuss the situation of Afghan refugees and humanitarian and development assistance for returning refugees.
According to a statement from the Deputy PM’s Office, Mullah Baradar emphasized that the United Nations and international organizations should allocate their assistance toward development projects to help provide returning refugees and internally displaced Afghans with housing, schools, electricity, clean water, employment opportunities, and other essential services. Meanwhile, the UN High Commissioner reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to mobilizing greater international support for Afghanistan and to continuing efforts to improve the living conditions of the Afghan people
