KABUL: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has criticized New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani ahead of his address to the United Nations General Assembly, accusing him of supporting Hamas and inciting violence against Jewish New Yorkers.
Netanyahu said he would use his UN speech to defend Israel’s military actions and operations in Gaza and to present what he described as the “truth” about Israeli forces.
Mamdani has previously called for Netanyahu to be arrested and described him as a “war criminal,” citing the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant. He has also acknowledged that, as New York City mayor, he does not have the authority to arrest Netanyahu.
The verbal dispute between Netanyahu and Mamdani has intensified as international criticism of Israel over the Gaza war continues and the UN General Assembly discusses the conflict and other global crises.
