Khalilzad urges Afghanistan and Pakistan to reach an agreement to ease tensions

KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. special representative for Afghanistan, has said efforts should focus on reducing tensions and reaching an agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan rather than allowing the conflict to escalate or drawing India or Russia into the war in support of Afghanistan.

In a post on X, Khalilzad said Kabul and Islamabad should reach an agreement under which both countries commit not to allow any individual or group to use their territory to launch attacks against the other.

He added that it was now Pakistan’s turn to take action on the matter.
