KABUL: Presided over by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the National Procurement Commission meeting was held today, approving 14 new development projects worth 4 billion Afghani (some 57 million U.S. dollars), his office said in a statement Wednesday.
In the meeting, 24 projects were discussed of which 14 projects were approved, 6 projects were modified and the contract of a project was cancelled, the statement said.
According to the statement, the National Procurement Commission has been instructed to retender the canceled project and assess the contracts of two projects comprehensively and share their findings with the leadership of the commission.
The approved projects include the completion of the remaining reconstruction work of the Kabul-Kandahar highway, the provision of electronic equipment for Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) in different provinces, the basic construction of some important roads in the city of Kabul and many other projects, which are funded by the Islamic Emirate, the statement added.
