KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, during his inspection of the reconstruction work process of Salang Highway, said that the country’s reconstruction is a collective responsibility.
According to a statement from his office on Wednesday, expressing satisfaction with the completed reconstruction efforts on the Salang Highway, Mullah Baradar provided necessary instructions to the officials of the project regarding maintaining high standards of quality and ensuring the project’s timely completion.
The reconstruction of the Salang Highway is contracted in three phases between the Ministry of Public Works and the private sector, the statement said, adding that currently, the work from the tunnel to the 16th rockfall barrier, including the application of CTB and concrete layers, has been completed, and reconstruction of 10 rockfall barriers in both the northern and southern Salang sections is ongoing.
It is worth mentioning that alongside the reconstruction of the rockfall barriers, asphalt paving of the Khanjan-Doshi road in the northern Salang region is also in progress.
