KABUL: Officials from the 215th Azm Army Corps of the Afghan National Army said on Monday that their forces have thwarted the smuggling of a truckload of copper out of the country.
The personnel of the 215th Azm Army Corps, during an operation, prevented the smuggling of a truck carrying copper in the Hazar Joft area of the Garmser district in Helmand province.
The truck and its copper cargo have been handed over to the Ministry of Interior.
The statement did not clarify whether anyone was arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt or not.
Meanwhile, efforts by the Islamic and National Army to prevent smuggling continue around the clock.
