KABUL: Mediators are intensifying efforts to secure a 45-day ceasefire between the United States and Iran, according to Western media reports.
Axios reported Monday that the proposed plan, cited by four U.S. and Israeli sources, includes a two-phase approach: an initial 45-day ceasefire followed by negotiations aimed at reaching a permanent end to the conflict during that period.
The report added that the ceasefire could be extended if more time is needed for talks.
Officials from the White House and the U.S. State Department have not responded to requests for comment, while Iranian authorities have also remained silent on the proposal.
The development comes after Donald Trump said Sunday night that a potential agreement with Iran could be reached as early as Monday.
