KABUL: Masoud Pezeshkian, president of Iran, says that 14 million citizens have so far registered their readiness to defend the country.
In a post on X on Tuesday, Pezeshkian described them as “patriotic Iranians” willing to sacrifice their lives, adding that he himself is also prepared to make such a commitment.
The announcement comes amid reports of potential ground operations by the United States, prompting many citizens to sign up in support of Iran’s armed forces.
Over the past 40 days, as Iran has faced intensified strikes reportedly involving U.S. and Israeli forces, thousands of people have taken to the streets in support of the government and to condemn the attacks.
