Drone strike at a wedding in Sudan claimed lives of at least 30 people

KABUL: The United Nations says a drone attack on a wedding ceremony in the town of Kutum in Sudan’s Darfur region has claimed the lives of at least 30 civilians.

The UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, called the incident a serious and unacceptable act of violence against civilians.

Local authorities and resistance committees have blamed Sudan’s army for the attack, though the military has not yet issued any statement.

The incident comes amid intensifying fighting between Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), alongside a widening wave of drone strikes.
