KABUL: J.D. Vance, U.S. President Donald Trump’s vice president, has arrived in Islamabad to hold talks with Iran’s delegation.
Trump’s special envoys for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, also arrived in Islamabad on a separate aircraft and were welcomed by Pakistani officials.
The talks are scheduled to begin today (Saturday afternoon) between the United States and Iran first indirectly, and then directly.
Earlier, an Iranian delegation led by Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, traveled to Islamabad.
