KABUL: Mawlavi Mati-ul-haq Khalis, Director General of the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA), leading a delegation left for Kazakhstan on Tuesday to attend a three-day “Regional Environmental Strategy” summit.
According to a statement from the agency, the event will bring together representatives from regional countries, United Nations agencies, international organizations, and environmental experts to discuss key issues such as climate change, environmental protection, and sustainable natural resource management.
Khalis is expected to deliver remarks during plenary sessions and technical meetings, as well as hold bilateral talks with international representatives to expand cooperation.
The agency described the summit as an important platform for strengthening regional collaboration on climate challenges, including water and land management.
Afghanistan has previously highlighted its vulnerability to climate change and urged the global community to keep environmental issues separate from political considerations.
