KABUL: The French government has announced that it will deploy troops, radar systems and defensive equipment to protect the Saudi port city of Yanbu.
French President Emmanuel Macron said the move is not intended to involve France in regional conflicts, but rather to protect infrastructure that is important for energy transportation.
Yanbu, located on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, is a major route for transporting Saudi oil to international markets.
