KABUL: Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi says Tehran has presented the United States with a seven-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Reuters reported that Araghchi made the remarks while speaking to reporters in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Araghchi said Iran had submitted its seven-day proposal to the United States through Qatari mediators and that the decision on whether to accept and implement the plan now rests with Washington.
He said that, if the necessary conditions are met, the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened and normal maritime traffic restored within seven days.
The development comes after reports that U.S. President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s ceasefire proposal and has told aides he expects U.S. strikes on Iran to resume after the November midterm elections.
