KABUL: The United States has imposed sanctions on 10 individuals and entities accused of helping Iran’s Ministry of Defense procure weapons and military components, the U.S. Treasury Department said on Tuesday.
The sanctioned individuals and entities operate in China, Hong Kong and Pakistan and were involved in procurement activities linked to Iran’s defense sector, according to the Treasury.
The measures target networks that Washington says have helped Iran obtain weapons and related equipment for its armed forces. The Treasury said the sanctions are intended to disrupt Iran’s access to international procurement networks supporting its military programs.
The latest action is part of a broader U.S. campaign to restrict Iran’s access to weapons, technology, and financial resources as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high.
