Uzbek Delegation Head: Afghanistan and Uzbekistan are two friendly, brotherly countries

KABUL: Shaikh Hamidjan Ashmik Bekov, head of the Uzbek delegation, has described Afghanistan and Uzbekistan as “two friendly and brotherly countries,” saying the two nations share many historical, cultural and academic ties.

Speaking at an international research conference in Kabul on the scholarly legacy of Imam Burhanuddin al-Marghinani, Bekov said joint academic meetings and conferences were important for strengthening academic and cultural relations between the two countries.

He said such initiatives could help pass on the scholarly heritage and contributions of prominent scholars of the past to future generations.

Bekov described Imam Marghinani as one of the prominent scholars of Islamic sciences and Hanafi jurisprudence, saying his scholarly works continue to be used by religious scholars and researchers.

He emphasized that preserving, studying, and passing this scholarly heritage on to future generations is a responsibility of the present generation, according to Radio Omid.
