KABUL: Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, says the existing problems between Afghanistan and Pakistan should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy rather than mutual accusations and military actions.
He made the remarks at the eighth meeting of the “Moscow Format on Afghanistan,” saying Pakistan’s military regime has used military rhetoric instead of political understanding in its relations with Afghanistan and has carried out military actions against the Afghan government in recent years.
He stressed that Afghanistan seeks to resolve its problems through peaceful means, but considers defending itself against any aggression its legitimate right and will formulate its domestic and foreign policies with full independence.
The Afghan Foreign Minister also said that resolving security and economic issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan would benefit both countries and the region, and that dialogue and mutual understanding should be used to create the conditions for resolving these problems.
