Wang Yi: China will not hesitate to assist Afghanistan’s economic progress

KABUL: Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister, stated during a meeting with Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, that Beijing will not hesitate to provide any assistance for Afghanistan’s economic progress.

Hafez Zia Ahmad Takal, head of information and public relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement today that the Chinese Foreign Minister assured that his country would continue to support Afghanistan in political and economic spheres.

He also mentioned that Beijing aims to eliminate barriers hindering the export of Afghan agricultural products and other goods to China.

The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to China as an important economic partner for Afghanistan and expressed hope for a significant increase in trade volume between the two countries in the near future.

Mr. Muttaqi called for permanent solutions to Afghan traders’ challenges when exporting agricultural products and other items to China.

He further proposed expanding economic cooperation with suggestions in transportation, banking, communication, and trade balance alignment.

Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi also emphasized the need for intergovernmental commissions to work together on enhancing economic cooperation and technical discussions between Afghanistan and China.

Leading a delegation, Minister Muttaqi left for China late on Monday this week.
