KABUL: A joint funeral prayer was held for eight Afghan citizens who recently lost their lives in a traffic accident in Sistan and Baluchestan province of Iran, in the Ajristan district of Ghazni province, province’s Police Command press office said in a statement on Friday night.
According to the statement, 14 Afghan citizens had recently taken an illegal route to migrate to Iran.
They encountered a traffic accident while crossing the border, resulting in the deaths of 8 individuals and leaving 6 others injured.
Following the incident and with the efforts of the Afghan consulate, the bodies of the deceased and the six injured were transported by helicopter from the Ministry of National Defense to Ghazni province and the Ajristan district.
Police in Ghazni stated that the funeral prayer for the victims was held in the mentioned district in the presence of government officials.
This tragedy occurred at a time when border forces are persistently working to prevent the illegal migration of citizens into Iranian territory.
