KABUL: Since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, 6.8 million refugees have returned to the country, either forcibly or voluntarily, from neighboring and other countries.
The remarks were made by Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, the Minister of Refugees and Repatriations, during a joint meeting with a working group created from relevant ministries and organizations to finalize a plan for the permanent resolution of refugee issues.
Mawlavi Kabir noted that the number of returnees is currently on the rise and mentioned that, in addition, over the past four years, 1.3 million Afghans have been internally displaced due to natural disasters.
The Minister of Refugees and Repatriations stated that stability in Afghanistan has led to a decrease in emigration, with a significant reduction in the number of people leaving the country following the victory of the Islamic system.
He expressed confidence that the plan for the permanent solution to the issues of refugees and internally displaced persons will yield effective results and will enhance coordination among relevant government and international agencies, while also facilitating aid, identifying needs, and clarifying the operational scope.
