KABUL: Emmanuel Macron, President of France, and Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, have stressed the need for full compliance with the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, calling for it to be extended to Lebanon without delay.
Macron said in a post on X that he held a phone call with the Saudi Crown Prince, during which they also discussed the urgent need to restore full freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
He added that, as talks have just begun in Islamabad, both sides agreed to remain in close contact to help reduce tensions, ensure maritime security, and support efforts toward a lasting peace agreement in the region.
Other world leaders have also expressed hope that the Islamabad talks will lead to a meaningful outcome while emphasizing the importance of fully respecting the two-week ceasefire.
