Iran: Security of Persian Gulf must be for all or for no one

KABUL: Iran’s central headquarters Khatam al-Anbiya has reacted sharply to U.S. President Trump’s recent remarks about the security of Iran’s ports, warning that if threats arise to the security of these ports, no port in the Persian Gulf or the Sea of Oman will remain safe.
In a statement, the commander’s spokesperson, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, said Iranian forces will not allow “the enemy’s” ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, and other vessels must navigate in compliance with Iranian forces’ rules and regulations.
He also said restrictions imposed by the United States on ships’ navigation in international waters are unlawful, and called the move an example of “maritime piracy.”
The Khatam al-Anbiya spokesperson further warned that the issue of maritime security in the region must be treated the same for all countries; otherwise, disrupting security would have wide-ranging consequences.
