Iran demands compensation from Gulf States over war damages

KABUL: Iran has called on five Arab countries to pay compensation for damages resulting from the recent conflict, expanding its claims beyond the United States.
According to Tasnim News Agency, Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, made the demand in a letter addressed to Secretary-General António Guterres and the rotating president of the Security Council.
In the letter, Iravani said Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan should compensate Iran for their alleged involvement in the U.S.- and Israel-backed military actions against Tehran.
He argued that these countries had violated international law through their actions and are therefore responsible for providing “full reparation,” including compensation for both material and moral damages.
There has been no immediate response from the countries named in the letter.

Iran had previously also demanded compensation from the United States for damages caused during the recent 41-day conflict.
