KABUL: U.S. officials are increasingly concerned about possible military support from China and Russia to Iran, according to international media reports.
Citing American officials, CBS News reported that in the early days of recent U.S.–Israel strikes on Iran, both Beijing and Moscow explored options to assist Tehran militarily.
The report said China is assessing the potential transfer of advanced radar systems to Iran, which could significantly enhance Tehran’s ability to detect drones and cruise missiles.
U.S. officials have warned that such systems would dramatically boost Iran’s defensive capabilities, particularly in tracking aerial threats.
The concerns come despite earlier remarks by Donald Trump, who said that Chinese President Xi Jinping had assured him Beijing would not provide military support to Iran.
The developments unfold as a new round of negotiations between the United States and Iran is expected to resume in Pakistan in the coming days.
