KABUL: Iranian armed forces targeted U.S. refueling aircraft in a missile strike on a military base in Saudi Arabia, according to international media reports.
Reuters, citing The Wall Street Journal, reported late Friday that the attack struck Prince Sultan Air Base.
At least two U.S. officials confirmed that five aerial refueling aircraft belonging to the United States Air Force were hit and damaged in the strike. The officials said the aircraft were not completely destroyed.
Officials from the United States and Saudi Arabia have not yet publicly commented on the incident.
Prince Sultan Air Base has previously been targeted in missile and drone attacks attributed to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
