Iran’s army chief warns of ‘regrettable’ response after assassination of Larijani

KABUL: Amir Hatami, commander-in-chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, said Tehran’s response to the assassination of Ali Larijani would be “regrettable,” following what Iran described as an Israeli attack, according to state media Tasnim News Agency reported on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, told Al Jazeera that Larijani’s killing would not disrupt the country’s political structure.

In a separate message on X, Majid Mousavi, commander of the aerospace force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, suggested imminent retaliation, saying: “Tonight, the enemy’s sky will be more visible to you.”

Larijani’s death in an airstrike in Tehran has triggered strong reactions among Iran’s political and military leadership.
