KABUL: Two pilots were killed and dozens were injured after an aircraft operated by Air Canada collided with a fire truck while landing at LaGuardia Airport in New York City.
According to CNN, the incident occurred late at night around 11:40 p.m. local time as the plane struck an emergency vehicle responding to another situation.
Katherine Garcia, head of New York’s port authority, said the aircraft was carrying 72 passengers and four crew members, of whom 41 passengers were taken to the hospital, with 32 later discharged.
The pilot and co-pilot were killed in the collision.
Authorities temporarily closed LaGuardia Airport for several hours to investigate the incident.
The airline’s regional operator, Jazz Aviation, confirmed the crash in a statement.
