KABUL: China has dismissed reports alleging it is providing air defense weapons to Iran, calling the claims “completely fabricated.”
In a statement released on Tuesday, China’s Foreign Ministry said it firmly rejects such accusations and warned of retaliation if the United States imposes tariffs based on what it described as false claims.
The ministry emphasized: “China handles military exports with caution and responsibility, in line with its domestic laws and international obligations, and applies strict controls over such activities.”
The response comes after Western media reports, citing intelligence sources, suggested that Beijing may be preparing to supply air defense systems to Iran through a third country.
U.S. President Donald Trump has recently warned that any Chinese arms support to Iran would trigger immediate tariffs of up to 50% on Chinese exports to the United States.
