Trump slams Italy’s Meloni, calls her “Unacceptable and lacking courage”

KABUL: Donald Trump, President of the United States, has launched a fresh verbal attack on a key European ally, criticizing Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy, as “unacceptable and lacking courage.”
According to Fox News, Trump made the remarks in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, published early Wednesday.
The U.S. president noted that just a month ago he had described Meloni as a “great leader,” but now expressed frustration, saying she relies on Washington while failing to take concrete steps in support of U.S. positions, particularly regarding Iran.
Trump accused Meloni of lacking courage and not backing American efforts against Iran.
Tensions between the two leaders have escalated in recent days after Meloni condemned Trump’s sharp criticism of Pope Leo, calling his remarks “unacceptable.”
This is not the first time Trump has publicly criticized close U.S. allies. Earlier this week, he also targeted the Catholic leader, prompting the pope to respond that he is not afraid of the Trump administration and will continue to speak out against war.
