Nearly 3,500 Afghan migrants deported from Pakistan, Iran in 24 hours

KABUL: The High Commission for Addressing Refugees issues said in a statement today that 3,450 Afghan migrants were forcibly deported from Iran and Pakistan in a single day.

According to the statement, among those deported, 2,980 Afghan migrants were detained in Pakistan and entered the country via Torkham in Nangarhar province and Spin Boldak in Kandahar province and 170 migrants returned from Iran through the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat province, and another 300 came back via Pul-e-Abresham in Nimroz province.

The migrants have been registered and welcomed by the commission, said the statement.

It is planned that the returning migrants will be sent to their original places after necessary procedures are completed by the working committees of the High Commission for Refugees.
