Rabab Fatima appointed as UNAMA’s new head in Afghanistan

KABUL: The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Bangladeshi diplomat Rabab Fatima as the new Special Representative for Afghanistan and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

Rabab Fatima has previously held several senior positions within the United Nations system, including key leadership responsibilities with UNICEF.

UNAMA is responsible for coordinating humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan, supporting the political process, monitoring human rights, and strengthening engagement between Afghanistan and the international community.
